Tax Resolution Frequently Asked Questions
Some Common Questions To Review Before Contacting Rejoice Tax Resolution.
Do I need to work with a tax attorney for tax resolution?
In most cases, our team can resolve your tax issues without the need for a tax attorney. We handle everything from back taxes to audits and negotiations with the IRS. However, if your case involves potential criminal charges, such as tax fraud or evasion, a tax attorney may be required to provide legal representation in court. For everything else, we’ve got you covered.
How long does the tax resolution process take?
The active phase of tax resolution typically takes up to 2 years, during which we work directly with the IRS to resolve your case. After that, we enter a passive monitoring phase for up to 5 additional years, ensuring that your resolution remains in good standing and helping you stay on top of any new developments. This ongoing support helps prevent future issues and provides long-term peace of mind.
I can’t afford to pay the entire amount of my tax debt, what do I do?
The first thing to do is to contact a tax resolution professional. Responding to a notice from the IRS does not mean that you must pay the entire amount, and in some cases we are able to dramatically reduce the overall payment.
The IRS says I owe them money and I’m able to pay. Do I need a tax resolution to pay them?
No, it is generally not advisable to seek tax resolution if you are currently able to pay your back taxes. Typically, for amounts less than $10,000 it makes more sense to pay the IRS directly. For larger tax debts, tax resolution may be beneficial as we can determine if you qualify for programs that could reduce the total amount owed.
I am not a South Carolina tax resident, can you help me?
Yes, as Enrolled Agents are federally certified we are able to provide tax resolution services to all US residents.
